Data Management

Collecting data at construction projects is old news. But how are you really doing? For years, construction personnel have been completing checklists, writing daily, weekly and monthly reports, preparing metrics and key project indicators. Unfortunately, much of that data has been collected for contractual reasons. That is, it was required by a project specification or a contract requirement. While the data was collected, it was rarely reviewed or assessed for the information or project intelligence that it contained as this is often difficult or impossible to extract.

EAS believes that data collected for compliance or contractual purposes often contains critical business or project information, that is, if the data can be searched, sorted and analyzed. A file draw full of hand written checklists doesn’t lend to this. However, collecting site data with the intent of using it for future business intelligence kills two birds with one stone: contractual requirements are met and useful project performance information can be extracted.
